Orphanage in Cambodia

Donated: 2.350 €

Goal: 1.500 €

Project country: Cambodia

Our foundation ambassador, Olaf Förster, visited a private orphanage in Siem Reap and offered his support locally. The founder and owner, Saroaht, lost his parents when he was a child and was raised by monks. He also lived some time in Germany. For this reason, he collects donations from Germany and Switzerland likewise. That visit moved Olaf so much that he would like to share this joy with you. His goal is to terminate the construction of the school which is being built. To achieve this goal he needs € 1.500,-. If you wish to devolve a part of your Charity Account to this project, you can do it now.

Video and current donations list

Donated: 2.000 €

Goal: 2.500 €

Pfadi is a youth organisation that is more than 100 years old and has spread to 161 countries. It is open for children, youth and young adults, irrespective of their nationality, denomination or social background. With approximately 45,000 members, the Pfadibewegung Schweiz is the largest youth organisation in Switzerland.

Schools for Uganda

Project finished on: 2018

Donated amount: 4.500 €

 Project country: Uganda

Since November 2015, the Dresden-founded society “Schools for Uganda e.V.” has worked day after day on providing children on the African continent with a better access to education.

“Schools for Uganda” is the support of the construction and operation of an elementary school in Ibanda, Uganda, implemented by the partner organisation “St Andrews school project for the young”. The support is thereby carried out in the form of financing the construction project and consulting during development, as well as the construction of the school and its operation. The school has been planned as an institute for girls and boys that is unaffiliated with any religion and will be managed as a state-approved private school. Due to the low education level in Uganda, the primary objective is to impart to the students basic mathematical knowledge as well as reading and writing in English.

Homeless gala in Rostock

Project finished on: 2018

Donated amount: 2.560 €

Project country: Germany

On 10 December, a Christmas celebration for 120 homeless and people in need will be held at the Dock Inn Hostel in Warnemünde, Rostock, for the second year in succession.

Citizens of Rostock have come together under the umbrella of the association Obdachlosenhilfe Rostock eV in a private initiative, in order to organise a wonderful evening, with a Christmas dinner and Christmas music, for those who have been swerved to the outer edge by the wheel of life, which left them without roofs over their heads, whereby even families and single parents with children are affected.

Not forgetting about those people, not turning away from their misery, but rather helping where we can is how we also understand the aspirations and goals of Ducatus Charity.

A heartfelt thank you from the Dresden Homeless Aid to all Ducatus business partners who supported our donation campaign for the 2018 Christmas Dinner in the Ball Sport Arena Dresden for 500 persons in need, thus making a donation in the extraordinary amount of € 2800 possible. At the event, we were rewarded with a lot of gratitude, acknowledgements and applause.

Special Olympics celebrates 50 years

Project finished on: 2018

 Project country: Germany

From September 24th to September 28th, 220 delegates from 45 countries gathered at the Special Olympics GLOBAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP FORUM in Baku, Azerbaijan to celebrate the Special Olympics 50th anniversary. The Forum provided a platform for discussing how people with intellectual disabilities are integrated in our society and how we can create more inclusive communities.  We are proud that our DC Lion`s Heart Foundation was a partner of this forum, featuring our executive member Oliver Sodeik as guest speaker.  Also part of our delegation were Board member Mario Hintermayer and our sports ambassador and Olympic winner Olaf Förster. Timothy Shriver, Special Olympics International Chairman, was very delighted with the commitment and together with Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia Chairman David Evangelista expressed his gratitude to DC Lion`s Heart Foundation for our support and active participation at the Forum in Baku.  It was a great international forum with a fantastic host, the Government of Azerbaijan, and many international personalities from the world of sports and politics.

In his speech our Board member Oliver Sodeik presented our Project ʺSPECIAL OLYMPICS ROADSTERʺ and motivated our future ʺleadersʺ to believe in themselves and together with their friends develop and implement own projects. The supporting program was exceptionally organized. The highlight, however, was the invitation to the garden reception at the residence of the US ambassador.

Our delegation left Baku full of emotions and highly motivated, with the good feeling that 20 years of commitment to Special Olympics is a good and important message to the outside world.

Christmas dinner for 500 homeless persons in Dresden

Project finished on: 2018

Donated amount: 2.800 €

 Project country: Germany

DUCATUS CHARITY would like to support the annual Christmas dinner for 500 homeless and needy persons in Dresden, which is to take place on 11 December 2018 at the Ballsport Arena Dresden. We would be very glad if you supported us in our efforts with your Charity Account. Many people face great challenges especially at Christmas time. Those who live in the streets must first physically cope with the cold temperature, but they must also  handle the emotional pain which, at that time, is frequently significantly stronger than usual. With some attention, a good meal, warmth and affection, 500 people receive something on that day which they lack throughout the most of the year.

Thank you for your help.

Donated amount: 2.000 €

 Project country: Germany

Founded for the purposes of the Otterbach senior centre, Department 2, Johannistor. It accommodates 21 elderly persons as residents in the psychogeriatric department. Those persons are predominantly dependent on daily assistance. Some of them already suffer from dementia. The work that the nursing staff of the department performs is unbelievable! I have formed my own picture of it. A donation will help, among other things, to organise a large autumn festival for the residents and the employees. This will bring a couple of hours of sun into their lives!

Two weeks ago, Silke Leistner and I met two people at breakfast in Mönchengladbach, Gani and Daniela.

They are married, and after the birth of their daughter, Daniela unexpectedly suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage and is now in a wheelchair. She finds it very difficult to speak. She is going through several speech therapies and other treatments, in order to be able to stand on her feet again, step by step. This is a great burden for the family. To achieve a faster recovery, money is needed for special therapies. We can all help with a donation from the Charity Account and bring back some sun into the life of Gani and Daniela!

After the devastating earthquake on the indonesian island of Lombok, Josch Brunner, an expat from Austria, started with an initiative of support. Approximately 400 people who remained without a home are living in tents on his property in Lombok.

The wonderful island of Lombok looks like a battlefield. The centre of the earthquake was in the north of the 4.700 skm Island. Josch Brunner has been living on the island for 17 years. He was lucky, he told Austrian TV, to live in the south of the island. “Our house is still standing, it is damaged but things can be fixed. We are approximately 1000 km away from the centre of the earthquake. The more you reach north, the less is left.”. More...

LOVT-Camp

Project finished on: 2018

Donated amount: 2.568€

Project country: Italia

The LOVT-camp supports children and youths with Down syndrome and their families. Participants of this camp play, hike, study, eat, speak ... And really laugh a lot together. Good fellowship is here on the forefront. Apart from lots of exercise, there is also a daily study room which provides a mighty push to calculus, writing and reading. The training of everyday skills, independence as well as social interactions and mutual assistance takes place through everyday activities and is reinforced in discussions with the parents and video analyses.

The LOVT camp offers families the opportunity for a time-out among like-minded people. For once, being able to breathe freely and not be “the family with the special child”!

Help for Arvid Hintze

Project finished on: 2018

Donated amount: 5.000 €

Project country: Germany

Arvid Hintze (3) is a bright boy, who laughs a lot. It is obvious that he has fun and is interested in his surroundings. However, what differentiates Arvid Hintze from other boys of his age, makes one inconceivably sad - he is severely disabled and suffers from cerebral palsy. At his birth, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck three times and a lack of oxygen caused the severe disability. Oxygen therapy might help, but there is no public help for this. The family depends on private support. Frank Felden, friend of the family and a DUCATUS team partner, donated € 4,000.-, which was then increased to € 5,000.- by DUCATUS CHARITY. We wish Julia, Danielo and little Arvid a lot of success in future therapies.  More...
